Tina Frank is Printed Textiles Programme Leader at Loughborough University School of the Arts and also works as a textile designer producing printed design collections for interiors and fashion, which have been sold and exhibited internationally.
Tina’s current research is practice based and investigates screen-printing processes and fabric manipulation incorporating a variety of fabrics, materials and surfaces. The design themes for each collection explore imagery and pattern inspired from natural forms, to geometric pattern and typography, incorporating a range of processes and materials for interior and surface applications.
Latest research projects include a print design collection of Interior furnishing fabrics exploring traditional screen-printing processes, surface manipulation and pattern exhibited at Heimtextil Frankfurt in January 2011.
Current research investigates traditional embossing techniques and laser etching working with leather, wool and wood. Designs from this project will be applied to Interior applications and vintage chairs and the work will be exhibited as part of ‘TRIP Textiles research in practice’ an exhibition of the Loughborough University School of The Arts Textile Research group, scheduled for Autumn 2011 at The Harley Gallery, Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
