Singapore Programmes

BSc (Hons)

Who will benefit?

If you are a young Singapore-based business professional who needs a high-quality, internationally recognised degree for both the knowledge it brings and career advancement, these programmes are designed for you.

We offer three BSc programmes, all of which are three-year part-time programmes taught in Singapore for students who are either employed or have extensive work experience.

Programme aims

The programmes have been running for a number of years as a collaborative partnership between the prestigious PSB Academy in Singapore and the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University in England (UK), and are based on the degree programmes offered in the UK by Loughborough, a top 20 UK university.

The programmes are designed to enhance participants’ understanding and knowledge across key areas of international business and management, providing the requisite knowledge and skills for participants to significantly improve their career prospects.

Programme logistics

Teaching takes place at the PSB Academy in Singapore during evening and weekend sessions. The programmes are divided into 18 modules and are delivered mainly in block format, with staff from Loughborough University and PSB Academy teaching jointly.

PSB Academy staff and local tutors bring a regional context to the subject matter and, in many cases, complement the teaching with the addition of their particular area of expertise to the modules, such as small business development in Singapore and foreign direct investment in Asian markets.

The combined expertise of PSB Academy and Loughborough University ensures the degrees are both highly relevant to the Asian marketplace and supported by the rigorous academic standards of Loughborough University, which awards the degree.

Programme content

Year 1 introduces students to the core management functions as well as the legal, financial, economic and organisational environments within which managers and organisations must operate.

These elements are further developed in Year 2, where the practical implications of theory are applied through the continuous mix of academic study and actual work experience.

The final year of the programmes further deepens and expands upon the knowledge gained in Years 1 and 2 and rounds out the degree with the essential concepts of small business issues and planning and the international business environment. Students on the BSc Business Studies with HRM and BSc Business Studies with Banking and Finance follow specialist modules in years 2 and 3 which further deepen their knowledge and understanding of their chosen subject.

Due to the nature of the programmes, there is no professional placement year. One of the main priorities of the programmes is to integrate the daily work experiences of the students into their learning environment in order to ensure they receive the theoretical and academic knowledge to underpin and understand their working environment and to develop students’ abilities to translate learning into action.

Teaching and assessment

The teaching and assessment methods are similar to those at Loughborough University. Admission to the programmes is carried out by the University’s Admissions Tutor and all interviews are held in Singapore.
