What is your name, degree and country of origin?

I'm Yanan Li and I'm from China, I'm doing International Management at Loughborough University.

Why did you choose your programme at Loughborough University?

I chose my course because I did my undergraduate degree in accounting and finance at Oxford Brookes University. I found that accounting was not really my thing but I took several management modules there that I really enjoyed.  I chose Loughborough University because I really enjoy the campus here; I visited when I was in Oxford and I just loved it here.

What has been the highlight of the programme so far? Have you had a favourite module/project?

My favourite module is Outsourcing and Offshoring. It's mainly about how to choose a vendor and outsource programmes and it was very interesting. We had to actually outsource a programme that we designed. We designed it in our teams and we outsourced it through a freelance website to a vendor. I think it's been quite helpful to get practical experience.

How do you think you’ve developed your employability at Loughborough? And what are you planning on doing afterwards?

I took a module about employability at Loughborough and it was mainly about how to develop your employability and what employers actually want from you. This was very helpful because I have got many ideas about what my strengths and weaknesses are. It has also been very helpful in supporting my future development because I am going to, in few years time, have my own business in China.

What would you say to someone considering studying your course?

I would highly recommend this course if someone wants to work for a multi-national company. You gain a broad idea about how to manage employees from different countries, and what you should do to manage big company like a multi-national company.

What’s the social life like at Loughborough as a PG student?

I'm more like a quiet person but I do spend time with my friends in Loughborough Student Union; sometimes in the clubs or bars during the night and I find it a very relaxing atmosphere there. I enjoy the sport facilities in Loughborough University, especially the swimming pool, that is excellent - very amazing!
