MSc Marketing and Management

What is your name and degree?
My name is Charlotte Forrest and I'm studying MSc Marketing and Management.
Why did you choose your programme at Loughborough University?
I chose my course because I'd already done my undergraduate degree here and I'd enjoyed that. Loughborough is a really nice University - I like campus universities, and I'd heard good things about the course. And because it's a business course for people who haven't done business before it's ideal for what I was looking for.
What has been the highlight of the programme so far? Have you had a favourite module?
My favourite module has been marketing and management, which is what my Masters is in so it makes sense! It was really good because we had coursework where we had to come up with the latest tablets and we had to then do a marketing strategy. You could actually see how it would be useful in real life situations and it was quite creative.
How do you think you’ve developed your employability at Loughborough?
I've developed my employability because there's actually a module, which is an optional module, in employability. So directly from that I've improved my CV, I've got good assessment centre skills, presentation skills and stuff from that, and then also because I want to go into marketing my degree will actually help me do that now, rather than history and politics.
What would you say to someone considering studying your course at Loughborough?
To someone considering studying my course I'd say it's really good and Loughborough's an amazing university so do it! But you need to have good time management skills because it's a lot more demanding than an undergraduate degree - you need to be able to manage your time better and be more dedicated to it.
What’s the social life like at Loughborough as a PG student? Are you part of any clubs, societies?
I'm part of the Loughborough students' sub-aqua club, which is scuba diving basically! I was part of the club last year as well and through that as well I've done my ocean diver qualification and now I'm doing my sports diver. It's been really good to get a non-academic qualification and something better for my CV that's fun as well, and when I go travelling I can use it for that.
Loughborough's social life is good, obviously Masters is a bit different from an undergrad, because you've not really got as much time, you can afford to go out as much, as in you can't be hungover the next day! But it's still good because you get to meet a wide range of people on your course, especially international students as well.
What do you enjoy most about being a LU student?
The thing I enjoy most about being a Loughborough student is just the atmosphere, it's so friendly and welcoming, and I like campus unis, and there's so much opportunities, like to just do any of the stuff that you might not get the opportunity to do otherwise. I just like being proud to say that I'm a Loughborough student as well, I think that's something.
