Professor of Operations Management
Jiyin joined Loughborough University in January 2004. He previously worked at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Northeastern University, China. He has taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in operations management, operations research and logistics management.
His research interests include operations planning and scheduling in production, logistics and supply chains, mathematical modelling and heuristic solution of practical operations problems.
He has published widely. His research papers appeared in academic journals such as Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Operational Research, IEEE Transactions, IIE Transactions, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Naval Research Logistics, Operations Research, and Transportation Research. He served on the editorial board of Journal of Scheduling and is an editorial board member of Journal of the Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers.
His research has been supported by both research grants and industry. He consulted for Hongkong International Terminals, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited, Jardine Logistics, JOS Technology Group, Philips Electronics, and other companies.
He received the Franz Edelman Finalist Award (INFORMS, 2004) for the work on decision support in container terminal operations. He is a visiting Chair Professor of Management Science and Engineering at Northeastern University, under the Chang Jiang Scholarship Scheme of the Chinese Ministry of Education.
