Dr Ian R. Hodgkinson’s research interests lie primarily in the field of strategic management with a particular focus on service industries. Specific topics include strategy content; strategic resources; strategic ambidexterity; and, the strategy-performance relationship. Ian also has research interests in the field of marketing strategy, particularly with respect to market orientation and performance.

Ian’s work in this area has been published – or accepted for publication – in several respected journals, including: Journal of Marketing Management, The Service Industries Journal, Journal of Strategic Marketing, International Journal of Public Sector Management, and Public Policy and Administration. He has also presented his research in several countries (e.g., UK, USA, France, Denmark, Singapore) at international conferences such as Academy of Management (AoM), British Academy of Management (BAM), European Marketing Academy (EMAC), and Strategic Management Society (SMS).

In respect of teaching, Ian delivers material at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His teaching interests are in strategic management in general and range from strategy formation, through strategic choice, to strategy implementation.
