Research Groups
Staff in Economics carry out a wide range of research. To help focus the research effort, we organise our research into two broad areas.
However, there is considerable overlap between these research areas, and, in practice, most staff are active in several fields.
Researchers working in similar fields of interest are grouped under the relevant Research Groups.
Microeconomics, Industrial Organisation and Trade
Focuses on analysis of Consumer Behaviour and Research; Analysis of International Trade and FDI Flows; Applied Game Theory; Competition Policy; Firm Diversification; Mergers; Productivity and Efficiency Measurement; Research and Development and Diffusion of New Technology; Regulatory Economics; Spatial Econometrics; Tax Competition; Tourism and Airline Economics; Transport Economics.
Macroeconomics, Money and Finance
Focuses on Quantitative Macroeconomics; Monetary Theory and Policy; Financial Economics, including the Finance-growth Nexus; Banking and Financial Regulation; Banking and Financial Crises; Banking Reform.
