Executive Education - Specialist Areas
Postgraduate Programme in Security Management
(Certificate, Diploma and MSc)
These particular study programmes are designed to meet the specific needs of those who are already security professionals and of those who wish to gain entry to the profession.
The programmes are structured in such a fashion that the participant is afforded ample opportunities to display his/her specialist knowledge of the subject and to pair such skills with various theoretical security concepts, but in a practical fashion. Here the objective is to produce a skilled and credible security professional. All of this can be achieved without the need to take a career break.
This three in one programme (Certificate, Diploma and Masters) is delivered by means of distance learning. The entry requirements are also flexible. Only those who possess a first degree may register at the outset on the Masters, although we provide the opportunity for successful participants to upgrade their qualifications.
Awards
- Postgraduate Certificate in Security Management
- Postgraduate Diploma in Security Management
- MSc in Security Management
Who Will Benefit?
The programme is intended for those who have an interest in practical security matters and for those who have a security responsibility within their organisation.
Many participants are from a uniformed, corporate security or consulting background and wish to gain an academic qualification in security management.
The programme takes a practical problem solving and theoretical approach to security management which is appropriate for the needs of practitioners studying at postgraduate level.
The objectives of the programme are to:
-
provide the knowledge and skill necessary for the multidisciplinary role of effectively advising on security and risks within a corporate environment;
-
establish qualifications that give national recognition to the holder’s abilities.
Additional Benefits
Past and present students on the course organise a Security Forum which meets four times a year to discuss the latest topics in security, including cutting-edge security technology.
All Security Management students are automatically eligible to become members, although the forum is not a part of the course and is organised completely separately from the University.
It provides a superb and lasting networking opportunity to discuss sensitive issues openly amongst fellow security professionals whilst maintaining the confidentiality of anything discussed.
Academic qualifications are increasingly required to demonstrate an individual's competence in the security industry and underpin workplace experience and skills. Loughborough's Security Management programme provides sound, practical and relevant knowledge for today's security professional.
