How to apply - Business programmes
The following information applies to the taught, full-time MSc programmes in Management at the School of Business and Economics and is intended to answer questions relating to the application process. If you wish to apply, it is best to do so promptly.
Educational qualifications
To register for the MSc programmes in Management you will need an honours degree in any discipline other than Business and Management from a UK university or an overseas degree recognised by Loughborough University.
English language qualifications
All applicants for admission to postgraduate taught programmes must have an acceptable qualification in English Language before they can be admitted to any taught postgraduate programme.
You are required to send us evidence of your competence in the English Language. Our requirements are: IELTS band 6.5 or above with not less than 6.0 in each component or TOEFL 600 (paper-based), or 100 (internet-based) with specific requirements for components. You should send this evidence with your application if possible but if you do not yet have this information you may send it later.

The University offers various pre-sessional English Language courses and details will be sent to you if you receive an offer of admission.
The School will accept lower IELTS/TOEFL scores if you undertake pre-sessional English. For example, applicants with an overall average IELTS score of 6.5 with at least 5.5 in each component (or TOEFL equivalent) may be admitted to the University’s 5 week pre-sessional course; applicants with an overall average IELTS score of 6.0 with at least 5.5 in each component (or TOEFL equivalent) may be admitted to the University’s 10 week pre-sessional course. You will be informed of these and any other criteria when you receive your offer letter. Please note that these criteria may change at any time at the discretion of the School.

Application Procedure
Please note that all applicants to full-time Postgraduate Taught Masters degrees offered by the School of Business and Economics are required to pay an application fee before their application is considered.
The application fees are:
- £25 for applications submitted through the online application portal
- £50 for applications submitted by paper application form

To enable us to deal with your application promptly, please ensure that you send along WITH your application:
- University transcripts showing details of all undergraduate programmes you have taken so far, with dates and grades achieved. If your transcripts are not in English, please include official translations.
- If available, evidence of English Language qualifications (IELTS or equivalent).
- You must provide two references. These are likely to be two academic references, but if you have relevant work experience, one academic reference and one employment reference is acceptable. If you have been out of education for some time and have a variety of work experience, two employment references would be acceptable, preferably from different organisations. Academic references should comment on your previous studies and express your referee’s opinion as to your suitability to undertake a qualification at postgraduate level in English. If you are submitting your application on-line please send scanned copies of original letters on official stationery (pre-printed) to include original signatures. If you are applying by post, please send a reference on official stationery (pre-printed) in a sealed envelope with the referee’s signature across the seal to ensure origin and confidentiality.
A final degree certificate will be required following your undergraduate graduation.
Accommodation
The University Student Accommodation Centre can give more information on the accommodation options available to you should your application be successful. If you are given an offer of admission you will receive a full information and application package.
You will receive an acknowledgement when your form has been received by the University. We will be processing a high number of applications, but if you have not had a formal decision on your application within a reasonable time (that is, about 6 weeks after submission), please contact us to enquire about the progress of your application.
