Loughborough University academics to analyse Brexit negotiations

A new project conducted by a team of Loughborough University experts will begin this month to deliver blow-by-blow analysis of the UK's Brexit negotiations which aims to make sense of each stage of the United Kingdom’s complex departure from the European Union.

Dr Elena Georgiadou, Lecturer in International Management at SBE, alongside her Loughborough University colleagues are part of a £300,000 research programme who will explore the outcomes of Brexit.

The rolling evaluation aims to give an up-to-the-minute picture of the UK’s position as deals which slowly cut Britain’s ties to the EU are made.

Important events, in particular the forthcoming national elections in EU member states, including those in France and Germany, will also be considered in relation to their significance in shaping the future of Europe.

The rest of the Loughborough team is made up of Stijn van Kessel, Lecturer in Politics; Dr Nicola Chelotti, Lecturer in Diplomacy and International Governance at Loughborough London and Dr Borja Garcia, Senior Lecturer in Sport Management and Policy

Talking about the research, Dr Elena Georgiadou said:

"It is very exciting to be part of such a dynamic project which establishes a platform for dialogue between Brexit negotiations’ stakeholders and policymakers."

“The project puts the IBSI group and SBE at the forefront of Brexit negotiations, producing real-time information and knowledge on the development of Brexit dynamics. This project will build SBE’s research capacity in international negotiations as well as showcase the strong research base of the IBSI group.”
