Death of Professor Mark Hepworth

Mark Hepworth

Professor Mark Hepworth, a retired professor from the School of Business and Economics, sadly passed away before Christmas from motor neurone disease.

Up until his retirement six months ago, Mark was an active and integral member of the School and its Centre for Information Management.

Since his appointment as Reader at the School in 2011, he led research valued at £2.2 million that has had national and international impact, worked in management roles in research and teaching, participated in enterprise activities with local government agencies, charities and housing associations, and also supervised the completion of five PhDs.

Mark’s research concentrated on how people interact with and use information to enable them to achieve their objectives.

The Professor Mark Hepworth PHD Scholarship has been set up in his memory.

Mark’s funeral was held on Thursday, January 5th at the Loughborough Crematorium, Leicester Road, Loughborough, LE11 2AF (map), followed by a wake at Burleigh Court on campus.

The family will be arranging the flowers, but donations to LOROS would be very welcome. The charity was a great help to Mark’s family and continues to help many others with motor neurone disease and other terminal illnesses.
