Loughborough Physics highly rated in the latest National Student Survey

Loughborough University has finished Top 5 in the annual National Student Survey (NSS), securing one of its best ever results. This year’s figures see Loughborough rise three places from its 2014 finish, and rank as the top East Midlands university by some margin.

Our School of Science departments also ranked highly in this year’s survey, with the Department of Physics scoring a place in the Top 10 for Overall Student Satisfaction in the UK (Physics and Astronomy, based on mean score) and scoring highly for the quality of its learning resources, amongst the range of measures:

  • 1st in the UK for Assessment and Feedback
  • 2nd in the UK for Learning Resouces
  • 2nd in the UK for Personal Development
  • 7th in the UK for Overall Satisfaction

Speaking about the results, Loughborough University Vice Chancellor Professor Robert Allison said:

“Loughborough is committed to providing its students with a world class experience, and preparing them for life after University. In a year we were named University of the Year at the What Uni Student Choice Awards, and achieved 2nd in the THE Student Experience Survey, it is heartening to see these figures from the NSS, which show students are genuinely satisfied with the educational experiences and opportunities we are providing.”

From early 2017, the student experience offered by the Physics department will be further enhanced by the University’s planned STEMLab development, bringing new state-of-the-art dedicated physics labs to undergraduate students.
