Dr Shahin Rahimifard
Background
I am an Industrial Engineer with over seventeen years of experience in R & D projects. I obtained a BSc in Computing and Mathematics from Brighton University, MSc in Computer Integrated Manufacture and PhD in the Operational Planning of Manufacturing Systems from Loughborough University in 1996. Since then in addition to the academic position at Loughborough, I have been involved in a large number of industrial projects, mainly concerned with the design and implementation of supply chain management and production planning and control systems for a variety of manufacturing companies, ranging from metalworking SMEs to the food and drink industry. My current research work is focused on sustainability issues in Life Cycle Engineering, including projects on sustainable product design, environmentally conscious manufacturing, sustainable business and consumption models, product service systems, and product end-of-life management, recovery, reuse and recycling technologies.
