CECA - Centre of Excellence in Customised Assembly
The Centre of Excellence in Customised Assembly is a new initiative funded by the Higher Education Innovation fund (HEIF), and in partnership with the Universities of Sheffield and Nottingham. The success of the UK’s manufacturing industries is crucial to the country's prosperity. CECA's objective is to work in partnership with leading companies to develop expertise in manufacturing assembly technologies and infrastructure support systems in order to provide a world class UK resource to support a diverse range of companies looking to manufacture products more efficiently, cheaper and faster.
IMCRC - Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research
The Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre at Loughborough University brings together a multi-disciplinary group of over 40 academic staff undertaking leading-edge collaborative research to enhance the processes, products, and competitiveness of the UK's manufacturing and construction industries.
As the largest of the EPSRC centres its scope is wide, covering aspects of technology, business and organisational performance, and human factors.
KIM - Knowledge and
Information Management (KIM) Grand Challenge The KIM Project, a 3 year, £5M programme funded primarily by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), brings together a team of some 70 researchers from 11 universities to look at the knowledge management challenges associated with through-life product support. The team works with a number of organisations and companies from a wide range of business sectors, including aerospace, construction, defence and healthcare. We welcome all industrial parties with an interest in this subject area and who see benefit in interacting with the team in the exploration and development of best practice solutions.
SAMMIE - Computer Aided Ergonomics
SAMMIE CAD Limited was started in 1986 by the SAMMIE system originators to continue the consultancy work of the SAMMIE Research Group and to market and support the SAMMIE Computer Aided Ergonomics software tool across a broad range of industries. SAMMIE CAD has a global reputation for high quality, responsive, and innovative work and since its inception SAMMIE CAD Ltd. have conducted over 250 consultancy projects for some 80 companies from around the world including clients from countries in Europe, North America, Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Iran, and Botswana.
SMART - Centre for Sustainable Manufacturing and Reuse/Recycling Technologies SMART is a research and development centre located at Loughborough University. Its remit is to advance technologies related to sustainable manufacture and the reuse / recycling of products at the end of their lives. The full range of activities are encompassed within the SMART "Temple". The members of the group have a wide range of expertise and are currently involved in a number of National and European programmes. We are keen to discuss possible opportunities for collaborative Research and Development projects with both academics and industrialists.
SUE - Sustainable Urban Environments
The SUE project is made up of a multi-disciplinary team of leading researchers in transport and social inclusion. Our consortium brings together the transport and design expertise of London Metropolitan University, Loughborough University and University College London. Partners include the RNIB, the London Borough of Camden and Hertfordshire County Council. Professional and practitioner collaborators include the RICS, Transport for London, First Group plc, Ford Motor Co., Davis Associates (Human Factors Design), the British Transport Police, local and passenger transport authorities and user groups across the UK.
SYNERGY - European
Commission FP7 Project The next phase of enterprise interoperability is the sharing of knowledge within a Virtual Organization (VO). Such knowledge will be a driver for new enhanced collaborative enterprises, able to achieve the global visions of enterprise interoperability. The SYNERGY project envisages the delivery of Collaborative Knowledge services through trusted third parties offering web-based, pay on demand services, exploitable through interoperability service utilities (ISUs). The overall aim of SYNERGY is to enhance support of the networked enterprise in the successful, timely creation of, and participation in collaborative VOs by providing an infrastructure and services to discover, capture, deliver and apply knowledge relevant to collaboration creation and operation.
