The AMSTC was formed in 1990, and the original work was centred on CNC technology and flexible machining facilities. This work was then extended to the applications of simulation in design and operational planning of such facilities and system integration issues, in particular those related to the planning and control of manufacturing cells and workstations. One of the recent main theme in our work is the application of Sustainable Product Design and Manufacturing, with particular emphasis on Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing. The AMSTC has been involved in a large number of National and European research programmes. The current projects are based on :-
