Perhaps
the most significant industrial collaborators of the group
have been BAe, British Telecom, Cooksons Group including
Alpha/Frys, Celestica (formerly ICL-Fujitsu and D2D),
GEC, IBM (UK), Siemens Nixdorf, Mitel Semiconductor, Nortel
Technology (formerly Bell Northern Research and STC),
Philips, Quad (Europe), Scottish Enterprise, TRW (formerly
Lucas), Pressac Interconnect and Yazaki Europe, each of
these having collaborated in more than one research programme.
The group has also had a number of successes in obtaining
support in the form of capital equipment from industry
including new reflow furnaces and rework equipment that
has helped consolidate its excellent base of manufacturing
machines and measuring equipment. The Royal Academy
of Engineering supported a secondment of a group member
to CALCE, University of Maryland in reliability modelling.
Consultancy has been also been carried out for a wide
range of companies, including HP Fibre Optics, HP Boeblingen,
Lucas, Ferranti and GEC Marconi.
