From J23 of the M1 Motorway

Leave the motorway and head east on the A512 towards Loughborough. Ignore the right turn for Nanpantan and pass the petrol station. At the first roundabout turn right. After two hundred yards, turn left and stop at the Security Gatehouse. They will issue a permit for entry onto campus and a barrier pass (retain this for when you leave). Drive onto campus, pass under the building and then turn left. At the bottom of the hill, turn left just before the barrier. Park and walk back to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Reception.

A6 from Leicester

Head north towards Loughborough. Just before you reach Loughborough, you will encounter a large roundabout with Loughborough signed straight on and also to the right - choose the straight-on route signed University or M1. Follow over a series of roundabouts (Shelthorpe Road, Beacon Road, then Forest Road). You will then see university buildings on your left.

The main University entrance will be on your left just before the next roundabout. Ignore this entry onto campus and turn left at the roundabout. Follow the road through the traffic lights (note campus accommodation on your left). At the next roundabout turn left. After two hundred yards, turn left and stop at the Security Gatehouse. They will issue a permit for entry onto campus and a barrier pass (retain this for when you leave).

A6 from Derby

Turn right at the first roundabout as you enter Loughborough. Turn left at the next roundabout, then straight on at the next (note hospital on your left). Turn right at the next roundabout towards the motorway. Follow the road through the traffic lights (note campus accommodation on your left). At the next roundabout turn left. After two hundred yards, turn left and stop at the Security Gatehouse. They will issue a permit for entry onto campus and a barrier pass (retain this for when you leave). Drive onto campus, pass under the building and then turn left. At the bottom of the hill, turn left just before the barrier. Park and walk back to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Reception.

A60 from Nottingham

Follow signs into Loughborough and then follow signs for the M1 motorway. You will pass through the town and will then be heading outwards on the A512 (Ashby Road) towards the M1 motorway. Loughborough University campus will be on your left (the road becomes a dual-carriageway). Follow the road through the traffic lights (note campus accommodation on your left). At the next roundabout turn left (signposted Burleigh Court or British Gas Centre). After two hundred yards, turn left and stop at the Security Gatehouse. They will issue a permit for entry onto campus and a barrier pass (retain this for when you leave). Drive onto campus, pass under the building and then turn left. At the bottom of the hill, turn left just before the barrier. Park and walk back to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Reception.

A42 from Ashby

Leave at the northern Ashby junction and head east on the A512 towards Loughborough. You will pass through Shepshed and then cross the M1 motorway. After the motorway, ignore the right turn for Nanpantan and pass the petrol station. At the next roundabout turn right. After two hundred yards, turn left and stop at the Security Gatehouse. They will issue a permit for entry onto campus and a barrier pass (retain this for when you leave). Drive onto campus, pass under the building and then turn left. At the bottom of the hill, turn left just before the barrier. Park and walk back to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Reception.

Travelling by Train

Regular Intercity services operate between Loughborough and other main line towns - including over 40 trains daily to and from London St Pancras 90 minutes away.

Once at Loughborough's railway station you are just minutes away from the campus. Taxis are normally available from the station. The journey to the university takes approximately 10 minutes and should cost around £5.

Kinchbus Sprint Service commences from Loughborough Railway station and brings you straight to campus, stopping at various places on the campus including the Students' Union and the Library. The Mechanical Engineering department is at one of the last stops and takes about 20 minutes from the railway station.

This service runs every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime until 5.45 pm in term time, every 20 minutes outside term time. A Monday to Friday evening service operates every 30 minutes until 8.40 pm during term times only. Sunday service runs from 12 noon until 7.20 pm.
