Dr Patrick Isherwood

MSci MSc PhD FGS AMInstP

  • Lecturer in Solar Energy

Research groups and centres

Background

Patrick gained an MSci in Geoscience from the Unviersity of Durham in 2008, followed by an MSc in Engineering Geology from Newcastle University in 2010. He developed a keen interest in renewable energy (particularly solar energy) during his MSc and decided to pursue this further, undertaking a PhD at the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST), part of Loughborough University’s Wolfson School. Having gained his doctorate in 2015, Patrick became a post-doctoral Research Associate at CREST prior to taking up his current post as a lecturer in 2018.

Outline of main research interests

  • Transparent conductive oxides for solar energy and related applications
  • Non-vacuum processed transparent conductive materials and development of facile atmospheric deposition processes
  • Optical and thermodynamic solar cell device modelling
  • Solar resource modelling
