Supervisors

Prof. Barbara Jaworski & Dr Carol Robinson

I started my PhD in October 2012. Prior to this I completed my BA in Linguistics and MSc in Cognitive Neuropsychology at Birkbeck College, University of London. I am an accredited Practitioner of the Association for Educational Assessment (AEA) Europe and have worked in educational assessment research and development since 2007.

Research areas

My PhD research focuses on the assessment of statistical (quantitative) reasoning at undergraduate level. To date relatively few cognitive models exist to explain statistical reasoning (especially at higher levels) and even fewer provide psychometric analysis. The aim of my PhD is to incorporate aspects from both cognitive science of statistical reasoning and psychometric modelling into the development of assessments that measure the complex knowledge and skills that are emphasised in quantitative methods modules for non-mathematicians/statisticians.
