Busy times for Lara Alcock...

Not only has Lara Alcock, Senior Lecturer, MEC been recently awarded the prestigious Annie and John Selden Prize by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) but shes also released a book on November 8th.‌

The book titled “how to study for a mathematics degree”
is the first subject-specific guide for students studying a maths degree. It gives explicit discussions about common points of confusion, practical guidance on how to keep up with lectures and advice on how to manage the demands
of multiple courses and tests.

Lara’s award, The Annie and John Seldon Prize honours a researcher who has established a significant record of published research in undergraduate mathematics education and who has been in the field at most ten years. One is awarded every other year. The researcher receives $500 and a certificate
of recognition from the MAA.
