When I came here I was amazed by the size and range of facilities in the Department and across the campus.  The library here at Loughborough especially, I find amazingly inspirational, as it has such a vast range of resources available. In addition, Loughborough has a huge range of activities that students can be involved in both inside and outside of academic study.  I am an active member of the volleyball team and enjoy this as much as I can, when I can fit it around my studies of course.

From my early years at the UOWM I was keen to study my MSc in another country not only to experience living within a different culture from my own, but also to pursue a career abroad. I would like to work in the UK or Greece if possible following the completion of my MSc. I am aware that finding a job in the UK without having been educated here is very difficult, but with my MSc from Loughborough, I hope to find work with Rolls Royce – that would be my dream job!

Living and studying here has helped me to develop many skills.  I have had to learn to communicate in very different ways, for example, although I was told by my English Teacher, Ms. Pascale Taylor, that my English was very good when I came to live here, the structure of the English language is very different to the Greek way of communicating, so I have had to learn to structure my written work in a way which fits the accepted norm within engineering in the UK.  I am also lucky enough to share accommodation with students from all over the world - China, the UK and India, which has given me an international experience at home.

The course I follow is incredibly intensive, thought provoking and demanding, since by completing it, an enhanced level of knowledge in materials is obtained. One of the most important factors of choosing this program is that my MSc will give me a huge range of choices, in terms of which particular work I can do and which industry I go into after I finish my Masters.  I am especially enjoying getting familiarized with different software of materials modelling like finite element software and Injection moulding simulation, on the course.

I would say to anyone who was considering studying an MSc at Loughborough to definitely come – you will have the opportunity to get involved with people in industry, not just academia, the campus is lovely and you will learn a lot.  Even though the work is demanding, your effort will be repaid and you will feel proud of all you achieve!
