Background
Luke has worked in the polymer Industry since 1988. From 1988 – 1993 he worked for Evode Plastics (now known as AlphaGary) as a development technician developing compounds based on SBS and SEBS thermoplastic elastomers. During his time at Evode Plastics he gained an HNC in Polymer Technology by part time study and commenced a BEng in Polymer Engineering both at University of North London. From 1993 – 1994 spent a short period at the Texon division of BUSM (British United Shoe Machinery) developing polymeric materials for use in the footwear industry. In 1994 graduated with BEng(Hons) from the University of North London and came to work as a Polymer Technologist for Minelco Ltd based at Loughborough University. He is currently in the process of writing a PhD thesis titled “Decomposition and Fire Retardancy of Naturally Occurring Mixtures of Huntite and Hydromagnesite.”
