Background
Andrew obtained a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry with Materials from Loughborough University in 2005. He then carried out his PhD in synthetic phosphine coordination chemistry under the supervision of Dr’s Martin Smith, Mark Elsegood and George Weaver also at Loughborough, between 2005 and 2009. After completing his PhD research, Andrew then joined the Department of Materials as a Research Associate in December 2009.

Outline of main research interests
- The aqueous and non-aqueous polymerisation of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) into polyvinylchloride (PVC).
- The characterisation of PVC resins.
- PVC processing.
- General coordination and phosphine chemistry.
