On Friday 28th September, the School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering, (AACME), held its annual Macmillan Coffee Morning in the Penrose Atrium in Stewart Miller Building on the Loughborough University campus.

The number and range of cakes that were available was astounding and the queue to get to them was even larger!

Among the staff and students who gathered in their masses to partake of all of the fabulous cake available, were the Mayor and Mayoress of Charnwood – (Councillors Christine Harris and Cynthia Bradley-Stevenson), who also enjoyed the event, as shown in the top photograph.

This writer’s favourite was the Bakewell Tart, being shown by Charlotte Hammond in the top image, who supported the organisation of the event along with other colleagues from the School.

Mrs Pat Storer, who organises the event each year stated:

“I would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who attended/donated/baked/faked towards our Coffee morning on Friday and to let you know that we raised a fantastic £532 for Macmillan Cancer Support plus £150 (50% of the raffle proceeds) which will be sent to the Mayor for her 2 nominated charities, the Woodland Trust and SENSE.”

The School thanks Pat and our wider colleagues for their work on this excellently attended event each year - we are all looking forward to the cake next year already!
