Research studentship - Jo Wapakabulo Funded by: LSC Group Project investigators: Steve Probets and Ray Dawson Duration: Oct 2002 – Sept 2005 Description: The LSC Group funded a three year PhD studentship to identify the factors and barriers critical to the adoption of IT standards, more specifically data-exchange standards such as STEP, and to identify ways to accelerate and facilitate the adoption of these standards. In order to achieve the aims of this research a qualitative research approach, based on case studies and action research, was used to develop two conceptual models (based on an innovation centric and an adopter centric approach). Once the models were verified, the finalised conceptual models were used to develop a series of ‘Adoption Checklists’. The checklists consisted of a series of questions, which can be used to assess the adoptability of a data-exchange standard. More details are available.
