TSRC Project Manager for DfT Co-operative Crash Injury Study (CCIS) from inception in 1983 to 2002
Advisor to the European Commission on accident and safety data information systems. Co-ordination of European Road Safety Observatory.
Consultant to EC for development of 4th Road Safety Action Plan (2009 - 2010)
Specialist in the area of accident and injury causation, publishing over 150 research papers on a broad range of vehicle safety issues, including active safety systems, injury biomechanics and causation, crash test procedures and accident data analysis
Particular areas of interest
Research into an evidenced-based procedure to characterise effective intelligent transport systems for optimum casualty reduction and the application of new technologies in accident research to simulate driver behaviour and improve pre-crash sensing capabilities.
