Personal profile

Ian Storer is a lecturer in the Department of Design and Technology at Loughborough University. He has over ten years experience in the product design industry and has nine years experience of teaching Industrial Design at Loughborough University at undergraduate and masters level.

He has designed a wide range of transportation, military, consumer and industrial products, both as an independent consultant and as part of design teams. During his time at Loughborough he has been very active in analysing design industry concept generation and presentation techniques and developing teaching strategies to communicate to and nurture these abilities in students.

He has developed new modules and design methodologies in the areas of product semantics and design visualisation. The product semantics work has been successful in attracting live projects sponsored by automotive manufacturers and the methodology has been used to good effect in recent EPSRC funded research work. Research has also been funded by the AHRB in the area of product visualisation and task analysis.
