Personal profile
Tom mainly teaches electronic product design and has been working between the fields of Interaction, physical computing and electronic product design for the last couple of years. His main interests lie in the area of technology mediated learning, value management and electronic product design.
Tom is an external examiner on Engineering Design and Control programmes of study franchised by Sheffield Hallam University in Kuala Lumpur. He has supervised research students, examined PhDs and MPhils and has acted on the reviewing panel of a number of key journals and conferences.
Tom is the second year tutor on undergraduate programmes of study in the department of Design and Technology. He is the organiser and co-ordinator of all design and prototyping activities required for the Engineering Education Scheme (EES).
He has been a consultant for many Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) and large-scale manufacturing and service enterprises in the UK, in engineering design and electronic product design. Tom's work has been widely published in the form of journal papers, book contributions, refereed proceedings, refereed conference papers and technical papers.
Tom has strong links with research colleagues in Iceland, Finland, India and Romania.
