Andrew Shiels, a Design School final year student (Industrial Design and Technology) entered a competition to design the gloves for London’s Lady Mayoress. The Lady Mayoress wore the gloves during the Lord Mayor’s Show in November.

The competition for the design of the gloves was run by the Worshipful Company of Glovers in London, it involved designing a pair of gloves for the Lady Mayoress of London, for the Lord Mayor’s Procession in November.

The glove design was assessed in six categories including, suitability to and for the event and regarding the manufacture of the gloves. Once judging was completed the winning design was then sent to be made by glove designer Pamela Woods.

The Lady Mayoress wore the gloves on the day of the procession and also discussed the design live on BBC1.
