SKInS (Sensory and Kinaesthetic Interactive Simulations) is a wearable suit that can provide a realistic impression of another person's experience.

Designers and practitioners need to understand the capabilities of the people for whom they are designing; this is especially true if the designers are young and fit.

The use of empathy suits can give a good indication of some of the limitations that others may experience. Empathy devices can also improve awareness of the impact of progressive conditions.

Issues and impact
  • Enhanced car design
  • Awareness training for progressive diseases (e.g. osteo-arthritis)
  • Occupational health risks in construction
