About us

Our aims
The Design School will:
-
continue to be recognised as world-leading in research, development and teaching, centred on the design of 'real world' products, services and systems; and attract students of the highest calibre from around the world;
-
maintain a leading position in design research by supporting the development of existing research groups, developing a larger critical mass of effective research activity and engaging with new and emerging design research agendas, particularly in the international context; a strong focus on design-related methodology and theory will provide a strong basis for innovation in research and its application;
-
pursue cross-disciplinary working within, and beyond, the boundaries of Loughborough University, primarily within the context of a newly established, cross-campus Design Research School, which embraces design research across all the Schools and Faculties;
-
continually strengthen the quality of teaching provision in design and ergonomics by reflecting the changing needs of design professionals, the impact of globalisation and increased alignment with the needs of students within both the national and international market places; enhance the attractiveness of design and ergonomics taught programmes by facilitating greater integration;
- build upon a growing culture of enterprise, commercialisation and business incubation alongside greater engagement with local, national and international industry.
