The land had been gripped to prevent soil compaction and the trees planted on the top of the ridges formed by this process. The trees planted form a mix of hardwoods and conifers (Allowing for individual species failure or changing market demand). The choice of species was part determined by what had grown well on the site before and in part by the species adapted to the new conditions (Alder to fix Nitrogen on the poor soil and Poplar to cope with the water logged conditions).
The trees planted:
| Common Alder *
Larch * Sycamore Oak Cherry Ash Belgium Poplar Corsican Pine Norway spruce |
(Alnus glutinosa) (Larix decidua) (Acer pseudoplatanus) (Quercus sp.) (Prunus sp.) (Fraxinus excelsior) (Populus sp.) (Pinus nigra var.calabrica) (Picea abies) |
The trees were planted in blocks, flanked by two rows of Larch (see map below):

The Larch will be harvested first, leaving access roads to the other trees. The expected time scale is:
| 5 - 6 Years
10 years 20 years 40 - 50 years |
