Centre for Research in Identity, Community, Society
Exploring issues of social belonging, dislocation and exclusion in a changing world
This Centre furthers British and international research agendas as they relate to issues of social identity and inequality at different scales, from the micro-politics of the body to questions of national identity and boundary-drawing in a globalizing world.
Based at Loughborough University, the Centre brings together leading researchers working individually and collectively on the ways that people's identities and practices are shaped according to their age, class, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion and sexuality. The group has a particular interest in the social and cultural geographies of identity, and developing both policy-relevant and theoretically engaged knowledges concerning the intersection of society, space and identity.
