Why did you choose Loughborough University?

I have always been passionate about geography and this course offered the most interesting modules. The course allows you to keep a balance between the human and physical sides of geography, but also allows you to specialise into either discipline if you wish to do so.

I chose to study at Loughborough University as I was keen to balance my degree with netball. The campus offers fantastic sports facilities and being voted the best student experience for the past six years, it made my choice very easy.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I really enjoy the wide range of topics the Geography course covers as well as a good balance between coursework and exams. It is very flexible and allows you to study abroad or work during a placement year.

It is also very sociable with a lot of group work and various exciting field trips to choose from. I have really enjoyed the field trip to North Wales as we learnt physical geography first hand and the group work allowed me to get to know everyone much better.

What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?

The teaching quality is of a very high standard. Besides lectures, seminars and tutorials, there are a range of field trips that run throughout the course and learning is assisted by online resources and group meetings.

Have you had any support from the University?

During my time at Loughborough there is always advice available. Department staff and my personal tutor have been extremely helpful in both academic and non-academic support. Taking initiative allows you to make the best use of the support services available, whether this is career advice or personal development.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

After completing my BSc in Geography I'd like to take a Masters degree in a geography-related discipline. The diverse range of skills that I have learnt throughout the Geography course is also applicable to any career.

What would you say to someone considering your course?

Come and experience Loughborough for yourself and make the most of it! I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is interested in geography and don’t be afraid to take the opportunities on offer!

How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?

I really like my course, the wide range of co-curricular activities available to me and being part of an outstanding University. Everyone here is so friendly and there are so many things to get involved in – whether this is participating in sports, joining societies or contributing to voluntary projects, Loughborough has it all! I have joined the netball club and I really enjoy the social and competitive aspects of the club.

Has Loughborough inspired you?

The University campus is a very stimulating environment; this alongside the great people around me and the consistent sporting achievements have motivated me to work hard.
