Additional CENTA PhD at Loughborough
Via the CENTA DTP Loughborough has secured a National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF) PhD. NPIF is the new name for the Industrial Strategy/CASE studentships. CENTA was given three there was stiff competition from a sizeable pool of well-qualified applicants. This success means that there will be four NERC CENTA students starting in October – 3 in Geography, plus this new one based in the Wolfson School. Albeit not based in Geography, Daniel Babatunde is going to be working with UAVs meaning lots of synergy with georaphy staff and PGRs. His project will be about using UAVs to monitor marine mammals in maritime protected areas in UK offshore waters. A big thank-you as always to David Ryves who has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to secure LU & Geography these 3½ year fully-funded PhDs via CENTA.
