Dr James Esson successful in UNICEF bid
Congratulations to Dr James Esson who has secured extra funding for Phase 2 of UNICEF-funded research on protecting minors in the football industry. This bid was succesful in international competition so it is wonderful that James and colleagues have secured £49,924. Working with James are Serhat Yilmaz, Carolynne Mason (both SSEHS), Eleanor Drywood (Liverpool University) and Paul Darby (Ulster University). The study aims to scope and define the responsibility professional football clubs have for young players entering the game, and identify current ‘good practice’ in providing protection for children’s rights.
