Our Programmes
The Department of Politics, History and International Relations offers a number of taught postgraduate programmes. All are offered on both a full-time and a part-time basis, with the full-time course taking 12 months and the part-time course 27 months. As well as the full Masters award, on all programmes we also offer a Postgraduate Diploma (9 months full-time; 21 months part-time). Students satisfactorily completing modules worth 120 credits may be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma. In addition, the Postgraduate Certificate may be awarded to students satisfactorily completing modules worth 60 credits.
The programmes are:
For the 2010-11 Session
MSc in International Relations
MSc in Research Methods (European and International) - Suspended for academic year 2011/12.
In future years we are currently seeking university approval for an MSc in International Politics, which will focus on issues and policies in international politics, and offer a more vocational (and policy-based) approach.
Programme structure
All our MSc programmes follow a common structure, with three taught modules in the first semester (October to February) and three taught modules in the second semester (February to June). The final period (June to mid-September) is given over to the production of a supervised dissertation.
