Extra-curricular Languages Programme - Course Outlines
This course is designed for people with no prior knowledge of Russian at all and covers all the basic language you will need in everyday situations (in a bar or café, at a hotel, at the airport, doing shopping, etc.)
The course aims at developing both speaking and understanding skills, with the use of basic grammar.
The course is based on the Talk Russian course book and includes 2 audio CDs.
The enjoyable class activities with the regular use of native speaking audio CDs will encourage students to make good progress from the very start and make the most of learning Russian.

The aim of the course is to build upon the language skills gained at level 1, with the wider use of vocabulary and grammar.

The course is designed for students who have completed the level 1 & 2 courses and can catch the main points in clear, simple messages, and who can also read short, simple texts and find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, menus and timetables.
On completing the level 3 course students will be able to follow much of what is read and said at near normal speed on familiar matters.
The emphasis of the course is on learning for communication, with further development of listening and speaking as well as reading and writing skills, with a concise, systematic approach to the grammar.
The course is based on Ruslan Russian 2 (third edition, 2007) –
a communicative course by John Langran and Natalya Veshnyeva,
with wide use of the workbook, audio CDs and video materials.
