Extra-curricular Languages Programme - Course Outlines
Course Objective:
This course is designed for beginners. The aim of this course is to help students acquire and develop basic Arabic language skills. At the end of this course students will be expected to master the Arabic alphabet; read, pronounce, and put letters together to form words. This course will focus on Classical Arabic, which is the formal language used by all Arabs. Classical Arabic is used for signposts around Arab roads, maps, menus, newspapers and magazines etc.
This course will focus mainly on:
- Letters and Arabic numbers
- Introducing yourself, asking questions (directions, advice, recommendations etc.)
- Basic and necessary vocabulary
- Discussions about the culture and people
During each session, students will be encouraged to use all four basic skills, listening, oral production, writing and reading.
Teaching methods include:
- Teacher's demonstration.
- Handouts and worksheets
- Audio CDs
