Abstract
For active railway suspensions, in order to provide isolation from track irregularities, the actuator fitted across the suspension must move at higher frequencies (typically 5-10Hz) without generating significant forces, which would degrade the ride quality. The research will be to understand the key issues for different actuator technologies and develope control strategies to ensure effective operation. An experimental stage would be included to validate the approaches developed.
