Petros Kritharas was born in Amaliada, Greece in 1979. He is a 3rd year Ph.D. student at the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology, Loughborough University under a 3-year studentship granted by the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering. His research topic is on the long-term wind power forecasting. Petros works under the supervision of Professor Simon J. Watson. Prior to his Ph.D., he obtained a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering and an M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy Systems.
After the completion of his studies, Petros spent some time in Industry working as a Development Engineer in several wind projects where he realized that it was a priority to maintain a practical, real-world perspective, while developing one’s academic abilities. Therefore, he made the decision to pursue a Ph.D. degree. His preference to study at Loughborough University was due to CREST’s renowned reputation on issues related to renewable energy.
