T.B.C.
Human Factors (HF), also known as Ergonomics, is the discipline that “seeks to understand and improve human interactions with products, equipment, environments and systems. Drawing upon human biology, psychology, engineering and design, Human Factors aims to develop and apply knowledge and techniques to optimise system performance, whilst protecting the health, safety and well-being of individuals involved.” The human is always part of a system, whether this is immediately apparent or not, and any system designed without attention to human factors as a primary consideration is at risk of failure. It is for this reason that the module is compulsory and, we believe, a feature of the Loughborough Systems awards which makes them unique. HF is not just a health and safety issue but is also key to efficiency and effectiveness. The module is designed to give students an understanding of the application of human factors knowledge and methods to selected domains of particular relevance to systems engineering.Course details
