16th April 2012 - 20th April 2012
In recent times, there has been a shift from selling products or services to capability-based contracts, in which revenue to the provider may be increased by providing to the customer the ability to execute actions in order to obtain desired outcomes. This changes the balance of risk and requires holistic approaches that must consider the extended enterprise and integrated, through-life support. This module provides an understanding of capability, its provision, and the system of system concepts that underpin it. It addresses the business and management, as well as the engineering, challenges of capability management and the transformations they imply. Case studies, group project work and guest lectures are included to provide students with insight into the systems engineering through which suppliers and users provide, support and realise capability.Course details
