Michael Roots (Information Management and Computing.
Graduated 2006)
I graduated from the IMC course in 2006 The course has
helped me develop a career as a Managing Resource Broker for Hewlett-Packard,
the worlds biggest IT company. The blend and diversity of the modules
on the IMC course has given me the flexible skills desired in such a large
organisation. My role includes managing the resources in the financial
industries group and managing resource brokers who supply resource to
IT projects across Europe. My role also includes managing a team of 98
technical consultants, enabling HP's strategic position to develop, and
ensuring an effective skill mix across all HP's projects. The skills required
for my role, including Project Management, People Management, Team Management
and Information Management, were all developed from my course at Loughborough,
which gave me a background into how information is organised and utilised
in large organisations (a common understanding often overlooked), how
to work within teams, how to develop process and how to work with IT professionals
to meet and exceed demands. The flexibility of the IMC course was key
to my development at HP, and gives flexibility to further my career.
