Stephen Mace (Information and Library Management, Graduated 2007)

I studied Information and Library Management on a full time basis at Loughborough. I enjoyed many of the modules that I undertook, including the core modules but particularly my optional modules in the Book Trade and Information Work in Developing Countries, The Book Trade offered a fascinating insight into the publishing industry while looking at information work taking place in developing countries opened my eyes to the issues and problems facing the information professional on the African continent in particular. I found the teaching at Loughborough to be of a high standard and the tutors were extremely supportive. I also experienced a good atmosphere with my fellow students.

I completed my course in September 2007. The subject of my dissertation, after encouragement and inspiration from my supervisor, revolved around the football management simulation games Championship Manager and Football Manager. The research and study that I did for my dissertation, in addition to the information/research skills I developed on the course, led to an offer of employment with the company Eidos, who make the Championship Manager game series. I now work as a football researcher for them, and for me its a dream job. It's my job to check, maintain and update their real-life information database, and develop their research network.
