The attributes of information as an asset, its
measurement and role in enhancing organisational effectiveness
Funded by AHRB (now AHRC)
Project head: Professor Charles Oppenheim
and a colleague from the Business School
Duration: January 2000 to December 2002
Description
The research builds on the work of the Hawley Committee (KPMG/IMPACT,
1994) which examined the identification, management and protection of
information assets and on earlier research carried out in this Department.
It also investigates the current approach of senior UK managers to assessing
the value of information assets and their attributes. Such assessment
takes place in an environment in which managers are increasingly aware
of intangible and hidden sources of economic value but unsure of their
reliability and in need of practical approaches for their effective management.
