PELICAN Conference on charging for digitisation of texts in Higher and Further Education

We are inviting you to attend the JISC-funded PELICAN project conference. The PELICAN project, under the leadership of Professor Charles Oppenheim, is involved in developing a pricing model for the delivery of digitised texts for the UK Higher Education community that will satisfy all stakeholders. The project team will present the key findings from the project and the proposed pricing models for discussion and feedback.

The conference, which will be chaired by Mark Bide, will be held on September 18th at The London Zoo. Light refreshments will be available from 10am and the conference will commence at 10.30am and finish at approximately 4.30pm. Lunch will be provided.

The day will comprise a number of short presentations in the morning that outline the project methods and our ideas regarding possible economic models. Following the buffet lunch, the participants will be split into three groups to discuss the proposed models in detail. There will then be a plenary session for feedback and summarising.

There is no charge for attending the conference. We do have limited funds also available to refund attendees' travel expenses. If you wish to make use of this, please let us know the likely cost by May 31st and we will then confirm if we are able to refund your proposed expenses.

For travel details to London Zoo please see: http://www.zsl.org/londonzoo/gettingthere.html Alternatively contact me for a print copy. Please let me know by email or post before May 31st to confirm your place.

Due to popular demand, we now had to limit the number of conference places to guarantee an even spread over all stakeholder groups. If you would still like to attend please contact Rachel Hardy, r.l.hardy@lboro.ac.uk, phone 01509 228053!
