Design School shortlisted for International Collaboration of the year Award
Loughborough Design School Senior Lecturer Dr Rhoda Trimingham has been shortlisted for a Times Higher Education (THE) Award in the category of International Collaboration of the Year.
The annual honours, dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the higher education sector, celebrate outstanding examples of best practice across a range of activity. The International Collaboration of the Year award recognises exceptional projects carried out jointly between a UK institution and one or more international partners.
Rhoda has been shortlisted for her work as the UK Academic on the GDEE (Global Dimension in Engineering Education) project. GDEE is an initiative that aims to increase the awareness, critical understanding and attitudinal values of students in technical universities related to Sustainable Human Development.
GDEE achievements include providing training materials with supporting online content, as well as case studies focussing on Sub-Saharan Africa. There has been 1500 downloads of content and 43000 page views. As well as 217 participants on courses, from all over the world, and 100 subjects that have introduced Sustainable Human Development reaching over 1500 students.
There are now over 200 members of the GDEE network from over 50 universities and 10 grants have already been awarded to looking at global development in the higher education criteria.
The Times Higher Education awards ceremony will be held on 24th November 2016 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London, with more than 1,000 guests expected to attend, including politicians, senior figures within the higher education sector and university staff from around the UK.
