Winta is a graduate of Product Design at the Bandung Institute of Technology in 2007. Since 2008, she started teaching product design in Duta Wacana Christian University (DWCU), Indonesia. She has gained experiences in empowering rural communities to develop products based on their local indigenous resources and conducted service learning programmes internationally with other universities from Australia and Hongkong. 

Her interest in inclusive design began in 2010 when she supervised some projects in product development to assist workers with physical disabilities in the wooden toy industry. She continued her higher education in Ergonomics (Human Factors) at Loughborough University as an awardee of Indonesian scholarship in 2012. After finishing her MSc study, Winta actively contributed in the Rehabilitation, Training, and Safety Preparedness Research Group in DWCU. The goal is to work with other stakeholders in promoting inclusive design.

Growing up and living in Jogjakarta Indonesia, she has grown up with a strong cultural craft environment.  Therefore, her interest has focused also upon product development based on local natural source, technology and skills.

Currently, Winta is undertaking a PhD at Loughborough University under the Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education Scholarship scheme.  The key interest is inclusive design particularly in the physical activity of young people with visual impairment (VI). Winta is working with the Running-Line Project to assist with the independent running for young people with VI. Her study is trying to answer a big question: “Can access to a Running-Line assistive device improve physical activity level in young people with VI?”
