Graduated with an BSc in Construction Engineering Management
I gained sponsorship with Carillion in July 1998 whilst studying A-Levels in Maths, Physics, Design and technology and Engineering.
During my industrial placements I worked on two separate ASDA supermarket construction projects. I worked on the first placement as a trainee engineer but due to the similarity of the two projects and the experience I had gained on the first project I was given my own package of works to manage on the second ASDA project.
Since graduating from Loughborough I chose to work for Carillion as an engineer and have worked various projects from building £3m worth of industrial units at Silverstone Race track to a £36m 6-storey student accommodation development in Sheffield.
Currently I am working as the construction manager on a £5.5m primary care unit in Bradford for the local NHS Trust. Currently we are undergoing major ground engineering operations due to site restrictions which required the removal of 20,000 tonnes of excavated material off site before works could commence.
Following the completion of the muck shift operation we are now in the process of constructing large reinforced concrete and gabion retaining walls which will enable the building to stand on an area which falls in level by 12 metres across its width.
The Construction Management course at Loughborough, combined with the two work placements have given me invaluable experience and a solid foundation for my future career.
